Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, gliding and kneading to help the body improve its circulation. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, improved appearance, and greater flexibility. I usually employ some Swedish moves in every custom session.
Oncology Massage is a special type of massage developed specifically for cancer patients. Cancer patients have unique needs which must be addressed to make sure that a massage is beneficial to their health. I focus my attention on creating a gentle, nurturing environment for you to relax into, and take special note of the effects of any current treatments your are using, like chemo or radiation. A typical oncology session might begin with only 30 minutes until the client has enough stamina or desire to lengthen the sessions.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically assist the movement of lymph through the body, especially in areas of edema (swelling), relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, it can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort during cancer treatments or other conditions involving swelling, and strengthened resistance to illness. I often combine lymphatic draining techniques into a full-body 60 minute custom session at the client's request. All hour-long sessions are $65, with $40 for 30 minute ones.
Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. This works by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia surrounding any body tissue, and release any restrictions or adhesions that exist between the fascia, muscles, organs and bones. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as a form of therapeutic or deep tissue work. Indirect myofascial release applies lighter pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain. I commonly apply MFR strokes to specific areas of complaint during a customized, hour-long session.
Mobility Enhancement is my own technique of movement education, which uses a custom-tailored approach to improving your body awareness and movement skills. Combining problem-solving, guided-discovery, and exploratory methods, this practice inevitably leads to a stronger connection between the mind and body, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement. Typically the therapist will lift and move a limb (or head) and move it rythmically in order to encourage mobility in the related joint. Most clients find increased Range-of-Motion in the affected joint after receiving this work. Mobility Enhancement Therapy can be done fully-clothed as an hour- or half-hour-long session, or can be worked into a customized 60-minute regular massage session.
I personally developed this technique from a variety of other modalities, including lymph drainage, acupressure, Chinese Medicine, deep tissue, myofascial release and cranio-sacral techniques. It's a 5-10 minute routine included into a regular session, designed to relax the face and neck, and open and drain the sinus cavities. It is extremely effective for addressing sinus congestion due to seasonal allergies, post-acute respiratory disorders, tension headaches, and a variety of other sinus ailments. There is no additional charge for the application of this technique.
Another technique I personally created, this ultra-gentle but deeply effective technique uses light touch and energetic intent to relax deep musculature from the inside out. Especially effective for clients who prefer not to have deep pressure used, I usually apply this specialty approach in every session at one point or another, depending on the individual client needs. There is no extra charge for this technique.
